In 2018, Boutique Heidi brought together a wonderful collection of handkerchiefs and their stories for our Hankies & Their Stories exhibition in Ballarat.
We discovered extraordinary memories behind these little pieces of fabric — stories of childhood, family traditions, weddings, friendship, travel, love and loss.
Some made us laugh, others brought tears, and many reminded us of people and moments we hold dear.
Now, we are continuing the journey, collecting more stories and photographs for our growing collection and a possible future book, Stories from the Pocket.
Do you have a hankie story to share?
Perhaps you have a handkerchief that belonged to your grandmother, one you carried on your wedding day, a childhood favourite or a special keepsake tucked away in a drawer.
Your story does not need to be long or beautifully written. We simply want to hear the memories behind your hankie, in your own words.
